How to Make Seven Layer Magic Cookie Bars
STEP 1
Preheat the oven to 350° F.
STEP 2
Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or grease with butter or cooking spray. Using parchment paper will make it easier to get the whole tray of magic bars out of the dish to cut into bars.
If you want to make a smaller amount, use an 8×8-inch baking dish, and cut the amounts of all ingredients by half.
STEP 3
Add the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter to the baking dish, and stir together until the butter is completely and evenly mixed into the graham cracker crumbs. Press the crumb mixture down firmly with a fork to form an even layer of crust in the base of the dish.
STEP 4
Pour about half of the condensed milk evenly over the crust. A rough estimate is fine!
The condensed milk is what holds all of the layers together and makes the magic bars chewy and gooey. We experimented with different ways of adding it, and we like the magic bars best with the chocolate, butterscotch, coconut, and pecan layers sandwiched between the condensed milk.
STEP 5
Add the butterscotch chips, milk chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, coconut flakes, and pecans to the dish in even layers.
STEP 6
Pour the rest of the condensed milk evenly over the whole mixture in the baking dish.
STEP 7
Bake magic cookie bars for 25-30 minutes or until lightly browned on top.
STEP 8
Loosen edges while still warm, and cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars after fully cooled.
How to Store Seven Layer Magic Cookie Bars
Store magic bars covered at room temperature for up to 7 days.
